The Memorial 5K

The Memorial 5K is an annual running and walking event held in Lake Barrington, Illinois. The event serves as a tribute to remember the service and sacrifice of military members who died in the line of duty. The 5th annual edition is scheduled to take place through the Lake Barrington Shores community.

The event features a single primary distance:

  • 5 km

The racecourse is certified by U.S. Track and Field and utilizes professional chip timing to record participant results. Before the run begins, area veterans and active-duty service members conduct a brief ceremony of remembrance to honor fallen heroes.

The starting line is located at the Market Place Shopping Center, situated at the corner of Kelsey Road and Route 59. Participants receive a race tech shirt and a finisher medal as part of their registration. There are discounted entry fees available for active-duty military, reserve members, veterans, police officers, and firefighters.

Proceeds from the event go to the Memorial 5K Foundation. This foundation supports the work of the Veterans of Lake Barrington Shores and the Tunnel 2 Towers Foundation. Parking is available at the Market Place parking lot and a nearby grassy out lot, with overflow parking and shuttle bus service provided from North Barrington Elementary School.
