The Maverick Chilterns Trail 2026

The event takes place at Princes Risborough School in Buckinghamshire and uses trail routes across the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Courses run through ancient beech woodland, ridgelines, valleys and chalk downs, and include singletrack and chalky trails with several short, steep climbs.

  • 8 km Short

The 50 km Ultra links sections of the Ridgeway and Chiltern Way and has approximately +1095 m elevation gain. The Marathon route gains about +906 m, the Half +583 m, the Middle +301 m and the Short +209 m. There are five outposts on the 50 km route, four on the Marathon, one on the Half and none on the Middle or Short. Outposts provide a range of sweet and savoury snacks, gels and electrolyte drink; runners must carry their own reusable cup or bottle for water.

Cut off durations apply: 8 hours 30 minutes for the 50 km Ultra and 8 hours for the Marathon. Transfers between events are allowed once and must be requested before the Monday prior to event day. Online entry closes at midday on Wednesday 8 July 2026; on the day entries may be available if the event is not sold out.

Practical details include free parking at the venue and a nearest rail connection at Princes Risborough station, about 1 mile from the school. Dogs are not permitted at the venue. Mandatory kit for the 50 km Ultra and Marathon includes a waterproof jacket, mobile phone, at least 1 litre of water, 800 calories of food, a foil blanket, whistle, self adhering bandage, cap or buff, a reusable cup and a GPX of the route.
