Maverick Chilterns Trail 2027
The Maverick Chilterns Trail takes place on Saturday 24 July 2027 at Princes Risborough School in Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire. The event starts from the market town and follows routes through the Chiltern Hills, linking sections of the Ridgeway and Chiltern Way and passing beech woodlands, ridgelines, hidden valleys and chalk downs. The terrain includes chalky trails, technical woodland singletrack and punchy climbs with wide views across Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.
Available routes and elevation gains:
- 50k Ultra, 50 km, +1106 m
- Marathon, 42 km, +981 m
- Half Marathon, 24 km, +613 m
- Middle, 14 km, +301 m
- Short, 8 km, +209 m
Outpost and cut off information is published for each route. The Short and Middle routes have no outposts; the Half has one; the Marathon has four; the 50k Ultra has five. Cut off limits are 8 hours 30 minutes for the 50k Ultra and 8 hours for the Marathon. Outposts provide snacks, gels and electrolyte drink and the event aims to be cup free so participants should bring a reusable cup or bottle.
Facilities include free parking, bag drop, timed results, event photography and food and drink. The venue is not dog friendly and dogs are not allowed at the school. Nearest station is Princes Risborough, about one mile from the venue, with direct rail links from London Marylebone.
Mandatory kit for the Marathon and 50k Ultra includes a waterproof jacket, mobile phone, at least 800 calories of food, minimum 1 litre of water, a foil blanket, whistle, self-adhering elastic bandage, cap or buff, a reusable cup and a GPX of the route. Entry fees range from £29 for the Short to £89 for the 50k Ultra. A 20 percent discount applies when entering any three races or three entries into this event.
