The Maverick Chilterns Trail 2026
The Maverick Chilterns Trail takes place on 11 July 2026 at Princes Risborough School, Merton Road, Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire HP27 0DR. The event starts from the market town of Princes Risborough and uses trails in the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Routes run through ancient beech woodland, sweeping ridgelines, hidden valleys and chalk downs, with views across Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. The 50 km course links sections of the Ridgeway and the Chiltern Way and includes chalky trails and technical woodland singletrack with several punchy climbs. The terrain is generally undulating.
Available distances:
- 50 km Ultra : 1106 m elevation
- Marathon 42 km : 981 m elevation
- Half Marathon 24 km : 613 m elevation
- Middle 14 km : 301 m elevation
- Short 8 km : 209 m elevation
The event provides free parking, a fully marked course, timing and online results, event photography, bag drop and food and drink at the venue. Outposts are supplied on longer routes: five outposts on the 50 km, four on the marathon and one on the half marathon; none on middle or short routes. Outposts aim to be cup free so participants should bring a cup or bottle.
Dogs are not allowed at the venue because the site is a school. Mandatory kit is required for the 50 km and marathon and organisers recommend all runners carry water, a raincoat, a foil blanket and a mobile phone. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
