About the race
The Mark Palumbo Memorial 5K is a timed road race held at the University Orthopedics Kettle Point campus in East Providence, Rhode Island. The course runs onto Veteran's Memorial Parkway, follows Squantum Road, then continues onto the East Bay Bike Path where runners travel north with waterside views of the Providence skyline before returning to Kettle Point for the finish. The event is open to runners and walkers of varying paces and includes one water station on course at mile 1.5.
Event parking is available onsite at University Orthopedics, with additional parking at Butler Hospital within walking distance of the start and finish area. Organizers note the event is rain-or-shine; in cases of extreme weather the race may be delayed, altered, or canceled after consultation with public safety officials. Refunds are available up to 30 days before the event. Registration transfers are permitted up to one week prior to the race; requests must be submitted by the original registrant and are not accepted after September 5, 2026.
The race is organized by an event management firm based in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, and uses timed road-race procedures along public roads and the shared-use bike path. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
