The Mark Palumbo Memorial 5K
The Mark Palumbo Memorial 5K is a timed road race and walk held at the University Orthopedics Kettle Point campus in East Providence, Rhode Island. The course leaves the campus at 1 Kettle Point Avenue, continues onto Veteran's Memorial Parkway, proceeds down Squantum Road and onto the East Bay Bike Path, runs north along the bike path with waterside views of the Providence skyline, then returns via Veteran's Memorial Parkway to finish at the Kettle Point campus.
The event is described as the seventh annual running of the race. The course includes one water station located at mile 1.5. Parking is available onsite at University Orthopedics, with additional parking at Bradley Hospital a short walk from the Kettle Point location. Organizers note the event is rain or shine; in cases of extreme or severe weather officials may delay, alter, or cancel the race after consultation with public safety officers.
