The Mark Palumbo Memorial 5K
The Mark Palumbo Memorial 5K is a timed road race held at University Orthopedics in East Providence on Saturday, September 12, 2026. The course starts and finishes on the Kettle Point campus at 1 Kettle Point Avenue, then follows Veteran's Memorial Parkway, Squantum Road, and the East Bay Bike Path. Runners travel north on the bike path with waterside sections and views of the Providence skyline before returning to the Kettle Point campus for the finish.
The event is open to runners and walkers. There is one water station on course at mile 1.5. Parking is available onsite at University Orthopedics; additional parking is provided at Butler Hospital within a short walking distance. Organizers note that participants should plan to arrive early.
The event is rain or shine. In cases of extreme or severe weather, race officials may delay, alter, or cancel the race after consulting public safety officers. Refunds are available up to 30 days before the event. Registration transfers are permitted up to one week prior; no transfer requests are accepted after September 5, 2026.
