Event Overview
The Downtown Jingle 5K takes place at Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. This evening event features a course that leads participants through the stadium grounds during the Rhode Island Holiday Light Festival. Runners and walkers complete the final portion of the route amidst holiday light displays before reaching the finish line.
Participants have two main distances to choose from:
- 5 km night run
- 1/4 mile Kids Elves Run (available for children age 12 and under)
Course and Atmosphere
The race starts and finishes near Centreville Bank Stadium at 11 Tidewater St. The event is held after sunset to highlight the festive lighting installations. Following the completion of the run, participants receive access to the interior of the stadium for the holiday festival. This post-race experience includes light displays, seasonal food, beverages, and holiday shopping. Family members who are not participating in the run may purchase admission to the festival during the registration process.
Series and Participation
This event serves as the final installment of the Run Rhody Grand Slam, a four-race series held between September and December. Runners who complete all four events in the series receive a finisher medal and an LED safety vest.
A virtual participation option is also available. Those choosing the virtual entry can submit their times online to receive credit toward various race series, though virtual registration does not include admission to the physical holiday light festival at the stadium.
Awards and Charity
Individual awards are provided for the top three overall finishers in the men, women, and non-binary categories, as well as for winners in age groups ranging from under 19 to over 70. Team awards are also available based on the times of the top three scorers. The event supports charitable organizations, specifically Amos House and Toys for Tots, with a toy collection hosted at Marathon Sports during packet pickup.
