The MEF Madison 5K Race & Kids Fun Run

The 23rd annual Madison MEF 5K Race and Kids Fun Run is scheduled for May 3, 2026 on the Madison High School campus and surrounding grounds. The event introduces a new course that starts on the MHS track, passes through the Madison Recreation Complex, and includes a short trail section around the Madison Community Garden. The course highlights the updated MHS track and turf field and recent improvements at the recreation complex.

The event program includes a 5K road/trail course around the school grounds and separate kids track races held on the MHS track for children 10 and under. Kids Fun Run distances are 100 m, 1/4 mile, and 1 mile.

Registration details and pricing noted by the organizer include adult and youth fees for the 5K, a fee for the Kids Fun Run, a combined 5K plus Kids Fun Run package for younger children, and family pricing for groups of four to six registrants at a fixed rate of $135 once more than three participants are entered. Registration opens February 24 and closes on May 3. An April 10 deadline was set for t-shirt ordering and was extended.

Packet pickup is scheduled for the Friday and Saturday before the event at Alfred's Sport Shop, with additional pickup on the morning of the event at Madison High School. Parking will be available in the MHS tennis court lot until approximately 8:40 AM; there is no parking at the Madison Recreation Complex. Race day registration is available. Proceeds support teacher-initiated grants at the five Madison public schools. The MEF will cover registration fees for students and families with financial need; requests are handled confidentially through a student’s principal.
