The Lost Valley Trail Race 2026
The Lost Valley Trail Race is a point-to-point trail running event that takes participants from Burlington to Dundas along the Iroquoia Section of the Bruce Trail. The race is sanctioned by Athletics Ontario and registration is limited to 180 participants to maintain a community atmosphere.
Both courses follow the Main Trail of the Bruce Trail, which is permanently marked with white blazes. Participants are required to navigate using these existing trail markings. Additional flags are only provided for the start and finish stretches and a 2.5 km road section through the streets of Dundas.
Participants can choose between two distances:
- 25 km: This route starts at Cityview Park in Burlington. It features rolling single-track trails along the Niagara Escarpment, steep climbs in the Smokey Hollow and Grindstone Creek areas, and a technical descent near Sydenham Hill. The course has approximately 600 m of elevation gain and 720 m of elevation loss.
- 10 km: Starting at Rock Chapel Conservation Area, this course is comprised of 75% trail and 25% road. It is a net downhill route with 185 m of elevation gain and 265 m of elevation loss, including a slow, technical descent down the escarpment.
A shuttle bus carries runners from the finish line parking area at Dundas Valley Conservation Area to their respective start lines. Parking fees at the conservation area are included in the registration. The event is cup-less, requiring participants to bring their own collapsible cups or bottles for use at aid stations.
A portion of each registration fee ($10) is donated directly to the Iroquoia Bruce Trail Club to support trail maintenance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
