Event Overview
The Longest Night Trail & Ultra Run is an overnight event taking place at Lakewood Nature Preserve in Greenville, SC. It offers participants a unique running experience starting at sunset and continuing until dawn. The race is structured around a 1.5-mile loop on wide, grassy trails within the preserve, starting and finishing from an old barn.
Distances and Format
Participants can choose from five distances, all run on the same loop course:
- 50 Miles – 34 laps
- 50K – 21 laps
- Marathon – 18 laps
- Half Marathon – 9 laps
- 10K – 4 laps
Runners must complete each loop within a 25-minute time limit and adhere to a strict lap schedule.
Venue and Logistics
The event is held at Lakewood Nature Preserve (220 Lakewood Drive, Greenville, SC). Parking is available on-site, with specific areas reserved for longer-distance runners. There is space in and around the barn for personal setups, including tents. The venue has no utilities (power or water).
Aid Station and Amenities
A central aid station at the barn provides hot vegetarian soup, broth, snacks like pickles and candy, and beverages including water, soda, and electrolyte drinks. This is a cup-less event, so runners must bring their own hydration vessel. Restrooms are available on-site.

A finisher medal is provided. A race t-shirt is ordered and shipped separately. Dogs are allowed on the course if leashed. Headphones are permitted. Participants are encouraged to follow a "pack it in, pack it out" policy. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
