The Longest Day : 24 Hour Adventure Race
The Longest Day is a 24 hour team adventure race taking place July 25-26, 2026 in Elizabethtown, New York, within the Adirondack Mountains and inside one of the largest parks in the United States. The event uses new course territory in the region and combines multiple outdoor disciplines.
Teams consist of two to four members; solo entries are not permitted by the event permit. The route includes single-track mountain biking, navigation through forested and mountainous terrain, and wilderness packrafting. Packrafts and boats are not supplied by the organizer; teams must provide their own craft for the packrafting sections. Maps for the course will be pre-plotted, and the format emphasizes strategic route planning with a mix of mandatory and optional checkpoints so teams can choose some portions of their route while a smaller set of checkpoints remains compulsory to ensure teams complete the course together.
Organizers require participants to carry a mandatory gear list for safety. Race communications and official results are maintained by the event team. The race format is presented to accommodate experienced adventure racers while also offering optional elements that allow newer teams to attempt a longer event distance.
