Leighton Hall
Leighton Hall is a Lakeland Trails trail running event set in north Lancashire within the Arnside and Silverdale National Landscape, with views toward Morecambe Bay. The event offers two distances:
- 21 km Half Marathon
- 10 km
Courses are well marked and marshalled and follow mainly hard packed trails with occasional muddy sections and some short road sections. Runners should be prepared to slow down or walk where the terrain is tricky. Some parts cross private land available only on race day and gates encountered on course should be closed after passing.
Water stations are provided but no disposable cups are supplied. Runners are asked to carry their own water or bring a reusable cup. Water station locations listed for the Half Marathon are at mile 3.1, 6, 8 and 11.2. The 10 km has a water station at KM 5.8.
Event logistics include on the day registration with baggage storage and race numbers that must be attached horizontally so the timing chip can be read. Parking on site is charged at £5 for cars and £6 for small vans, with free parking for cars carrying four or more people; parking is on grass and only small vans up to the size of a VW Transporter are permitted. No dogs are allowed on course or in the venue.
Medical cover is provided by Advanced Life Support Medics and event radios support marshal communications. The event village features local food traders, Pete Bland Sports selling inov 8 products, a professional photographer, live music and prize giving. A free children fun trail is available for under 12s on the day and all children receive a finishers medal. Results are published live online.
