Leighton Hall Trail Races
The Lakeland Trails event at Leighton Hall takes place in north Lancashire within the Arnside and Silverdale National Landscape. The courses feature a variety of terrain including farmland, reedbeds, and hard-packed trails, with some potentially muddy sections. The routes offer views of the River Kent estuary, Morecambe Bay, and the distant Lake District fells.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 10 km Trail Run
- 21 km Trail Half Marathon Challenge
- 21 km Trail Half Marathon Race
The 10 km course concludes with a fast section leading to the finish line directly in front of Leighton Hall. The 21 km distance is offered in two formats: a "Challenge" for those focusing on the journey without competitive prizes, and a "Race" for those seeking a competitive result.
The event village at Leighton Hall includes live music, local food stalls, and a retail area for running gear. Specific safety requirements are in place, including a ban on dogs throughout the venue and course. For environmental reasons, the event is cup-free; runners must carry their own hydration vests or reusable cups to use at the water stations located along the routes.
Access to the venue is available via public transport with a short walk from Yealand Conyers. Parking is provided on-site on grass surfaces, which limits vehicle access to cars and small vans only. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
