About the race
Leighton Hall is a trail running event held in and around the Arnside and Silverdale National Landscape in north Lancashire, with views across Morecambe Bay. The event uses marked, marshalled trails that are mainly hard packed underfoot with occasional muddy sections and some road links where runners should keep to the right.
Two main distance options are offered:
- 10 km trail run
- Half marathon (approximately 21 km)
Water stations are provided on course; runners are asked to carry their own water or bring a reusable cup because single-use cups are not supplied. The half marathon has water stations around miles 3.1, 6, 8 and 11.2. The 10 km route has a station near km 5.8. For safety, over-ear and in-ear headphones are not permitted; bone-conducting headphones are allowed.
Event logistics include on-site parking on grass (postcode LA5 9PS for the venue), a parking charge for cars and small vans unless the vehicle carries four or more occupants, and restrictions on vehicle size (no larger than a VW Transporter). Dogs are not permitted at the venue or on course. Race numbers must be collected on the day at least 45 minutes before an allocated start and must be displayed horizontally for timing.
The event village features a sports retailer and local food and drink stalls. Advanced life support medics and radio communications support are present. Prizes are awarded in Open and Veteran age-group categories, and only one prize is given per competitor. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
