The Land of Light 100k

The Land of Light 100k is an event in Norway, ME that combines trail running and road cycling across multiple preserves. The event uses six different trail systems and is offered as both a 100K solo and a 100K duo.

The event is a fully human powered category where competitors must travel between parcels by bicycle rather than by car. The course comprises about 25k of running and 75k of cycling. The route begins at Virgil Parris Preserve with a 3k warmup loop, then includes a bike climb over Streaked Mountain into town, a 5k loop at Roberts Farm Preserve, a steep 4k lollipop at Noyes Mountain, an 8k rolling lollipop at Shepard's Farm through Witt Swamp, a 4k loop on the Crooked River parcel at Twin Bridges, and a final ride to Hawk Mountain followed by a short up and down 3k to the finish at an overlook over Bear Pond toward Sebago.

Relay teams may swap rider or runner at any transition point or trailhead but not mid course. Cyclists may use any open public roads and must obey road laws; e-bikes are not allowed. GPS navigation is permitted and organizers may request GPS for podium verification. Aid stations are located at Roberts Farm, Noyes Mountain, Shepard's Farm, and Hawk with full aid at Roberts Farm and Shepard's Farm and water only at Noyes Mountain and Hawk. The event is cupless so racers should carry their own cup or bottle.

All profits support TruStrength Tomorrow and 10% of proceeds go to Western Foothill Land Trust. GPX files and a recommended travel route are provided in the race briefing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
