The Land of Light 100k (October 12, 2025)
The Land of Light is a multi-preserve event around Norway, ME that combines trail running and cycling across six trail systems. The event offers two distance options:
- 100K solo
- 100K duo relay
The 100K is organized as a fully human powered course in which participants travel between parcels by bicycle rather than by automobile. The overall course comprises approximately 25k running and 75k cycling. The route starts at the Virgil Parris Preserve with a short 3k running loop, then moves by bike over Streaked Mountain into town. Running segments include a 5k loop at Roberts Farm Preserve, a steep 4k lollipop on Noyes Mountain, an 8k rolling lollipop through Witt Swamp and Shepard’s Farm, a 4–5k loop on the Crooked River parcel at Twin Bridges, and final travel to Hawk Mountain with a finish at an overlook above Bear Pond toward Sebago.
Relay teams may swap rider or runner only at transition points and trailheads, and partners may alternate roles more than once. There is no single mandated bike travel route; cyclists may use open public roads and must follow legal road laws. E-bikes are not permitted. GPS navigation is allowed; GPX files and a recommended route may be provided in pre-race materials.
Aid stations are planned as follows: Roberts Farm full aid, Noyes Mountain water only, Shepard’s Farm full aid, and Hawk water only with remaining supplies. The event is cupless so participants should carry a cup or bottle for refills.
All profits support TruStrength Tomorrow, a 501c3 providing youth fitness scholarships, with 10 percent of proceeds given to the Western Foothills Land Trust. A post-race awards party is scheduled at 290 Maine Street in Norway where podium finishers are announced and swag is distributed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
