Dash for Dogs 5k Run or Walk
The Dash for Dogs 5k is an annual athletic event held in Lewiston, Maine. Participants follow a route along the Androscoggin Riverwalk path to support the care and shelter of companion animals. The course begins at the local Humane Society on Strawberry Avenue, proceeds onto Tall Pines Drive, and follows the trailhead to Sunnyside Park before returning to the starting point.
Participants have several options for entry:
- 5k Walk or Run With a Dog
- 5k Walk or Run - No Dog
- 5k Virtual Participation
- Child Under 8 years old (for human participants only)
The event takes place rain or shine. For those choosing to participate with a canine companion, dogs must be up to date on vaccinations, and the use of flex-lead leashes is prohibited. Children under the age of 8 may participate at no cost, though dogs are not allowed in this specific registration category.
Registered participants are eligible for various awards and recognitions. Prizes are designated for top male and female finishers in each age group, including those running with and without dogs. Additional honors include a prize for the best dressed pet and the top fundraiser. All registered attendees are entered into a raffle featuring items from local businesses. T-shirt orders must be completed by early April. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
