Dash for Dogs 5k Run or Walk
Dash for Dogs is an annual 5K run or walk held in Lewiston, Maine, with in-person and virtual participation options. The event is based at the local humane society at 55 Strawberry Avenue and uses the Androscoggin Riverwalk path for the out-and-back course.
Dogs are permitted on site when current on vaccinations and must not use flex-lead leashes. There is also a separate child entry for participants under 8 years old with no dogs allowed. The event is held rain or shine.
Registration fees vary by timing: early bird through December 31 is $25, January 1 through April 25 is $30, and same-day in-person registration is $35. Kids under 8 are free. The deadline for shirt orders is April 8. Optional bib and shirt pickup is available the day before the event at the shelter.
Prizes include top male and female finishers by age group for both running with and without a dog, best dressed pet, raffle prizes for registered participants, a top fundraiser prize, a longest traveler prize, and a prize for the team that fundraises the most which includes a sponsored pizza party. Maps of the course are posted at registration.
Course description: start at the humane society parking lot, exit right, turn left at the stop sign onto Tall Pines Drive, follow the trail where the road curves right to the trailhead, continue to Sunnyside Park, then return to the start.
