The Lake Run, Hudson IL
The Lake Run is an annual road event held around Lake Bloomington in Hudson, Illinois. The 2026 edition carries an International Harry Potter Day theme observed on May 2 and adds costume-required categories for fastest witch, wizard or muggle, plus a no-time no-shirt entry option.

Each distance uses chip timing and posts race results live during the event. A special No Shirt No Time No Frills option is offered; that entry uses a bib without a timing chip, includes no awards, and does not include the post party at Green Gables.
The Lake Run began in 1982 as a loop around Lake Bloomington and had 224 finishers that first year. The event later added a shorter loop and has been held annually since then. Age group classifications are used, and the race also includes footpounder classes for men over 220 lb and women over 190 lb, plus footpounder light classes with specified weight ranges.
Post race food includes Avanti's Gondola Sandwiches and vegetarian options. A post party is held at the Green Gables outdoor beer garden where participants over 21 receive a free beer of choice; nonalcoholic Athletic Brewing beer is also available. Registrations made before April 23, 2026 receive a Lake Run T-shirt in the requested size. The event location is 17485 E 2500 Rd N, Hudson, IL 61748.
