The Lake Run takes place on May 2, 2026 in Hudson, Illinois (17485 E 2500 Rd N, Hudson, IL 61748). The event offers multiple distance options with chip timing and live race results. Distances available include:
- 12K (7.44 miles)
- 4.37 Mile
- 3 Mile Walk
- No Shirt - No Time - No Frills entry (choice of 3 Mile Walk, 4.37 Mile, or 12K; no chip, no awards, no post party access)
The event includes post-race food with Avanti's Gondola Sandwiches and vegetarian options. A post race party will be held at Green Gables outdoor beer garden; participants over 21 are eligible for a complimentary beer selection, and a non-alcoholic Athletic Brewing option will be available.

The 2026 theme is "International Harry Potter Day" observed May 2; two new costume categories are listed: fastest witch, wizard, or muggle (costumes required). The Lake Run began in 1982 as a loop around Lake Bloomington with 224 finishers and later added a shorter loop. The race maintains age group classifications and footpounder classes: men over 220 lb and women over 190 lb, plus footpounder light (men 190-219 lb; women 150-179 lb). Registrants who sign up before April 23, 2026 will receive a Lake Run T-shirt in their size. Partial proceeds for 2026 are to be determined.
