Event Details

The Black Wolf Backyard Ultra is an ultra-running event taking place in Palmer, Alaska. The race uses a 4.167-mile (6.7 km) loop course at the Government Peak Recreation Area in Hatcher Pass. The trail consists of single track and ski trails with approximately 500 feet of elevation change per loop.

Participants compete to complete as many loops as possible within one hour each. The event follows standard Backyard Ultra rules, including a communal start precisely every hour. The last runner to complete a loop is the winner; all others are recorded as Did Not Finish (DNF).

Basic aid, including water and limited prepackaged food, is available at the start/finish area. Runners are responsible for their own personal aid and nutrition. The course includes one small creek crossing, and runners should be prepared for variable weather, including rain and mud. Headlamps are recommended for night running. The event is capped at 75 participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
