Black Wolf Backyard Ultra : Palmer, AK
Black Wolf Backyard Ultra is a Backyard Ultra event organized by Black Wolf Endurance at Government Peak Recreation Area near Hatcher Pass in Palmer, Alaska on July 11, 2026. The course is a 4.167 mile (6706 meter) loop on single track and ski trails with about 500 feet of elevation gain and loss per loop.
The event follows standard Backyard Ultra rules. Each loop must be completed within one hour to count, all runners must start at the hourly bell, and no crewing or outside aid is allowed during a loop. The winner is the last person to complete a loop; all other runners are recorded as DNF. Race materials and a full handbook are provided after registration.
Trail conditions will be marked and clear but may border thick vegetation. There is one small creek crossing with stepping stones; runners should expect the possibility of wet shoes or socks. Water and a limited supply of prepackaged food items will be available at the start/finish area. Night running is part of the event; headlamps are recommended for overnight hours.
Registration opens January 1, 2026 at 6:00 AM and closes July 4 at 11:59 PM AK. Entry is limited to 75 participants. Due to event costs, refunds, deferrals, bib exchanges, and transfers are not offered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
