The Kook Run
The Kook Run is a road race in Encinitas, California scheduled for February 14, 2027. The course runs along South Coast Highway 101 and West D Street and offers views of the Pacific Ocean and several well known surf breaks.
Available race options include:
- 10K out-and-back along Coast Highway 101
- 5K out-and-back along Coast Highway 101
- Jr Kook Run kids dash, distances vary by age
- Virtual Kook run on a participant chosen route and time
The out-and-back course begins with a gradual downhill section, includes return segments with some uphill elements, and finishes with a final stretch through downtown Encinitas. Organizers hold a costume contest with prizes on race day. A junior event for ages 3 to 12 takes place on the Saturday before the main race at packet pickup.
Registration options include early bird pricing for 2027. Race packet mailouts are available; mailed bibs are sent one week in advance, and virtual race packets are mailed during race week.
