Event Overview
The San Diego 50 and Trail Runs take place in Escondido, California. This event features a wide range of distances on trail surfaces, providing options for various experience levels and technical preferences. Distance Options
Participants can choose from the following events:
- 50 Miles: A trail ultra marathon.
- 26.2 Miles: A trail marathon.
- 26.2 Miles Relay: A two-person relay format with a transition at mile 13.1.
- 13.1 Miles: A trail heavy half marathon.
- 10 Miles: The Summit Chase Challenge, an out and back course to Raptor Ridge.
- 5 Miles: The Valley 5M, a flat course along the valley floor.
- 3.1 Miles: A stroller-friendly trail 5k on flat terrain.
- 1 Mile: A non-timed youth run for children aged 10 and younger.
Course Details
The marathon and 10-mile courses include a climb to the summit of Raptor Ridge, which reaches an elevation of 688 feet. In contrast, the 5-mile and 5k courses are designed to be flat and fast, situated primarily on the valley floor. The marathon relay includes a physical exchange point at the Piedras Aid Station, where parking is available for vehicle-based runner transitions as no shuttle service is provided.
Important Information
The event operates as a cupless race series. No disposable cups are provided at the aid stations, and all runners are required to bring their own hydration vessel to carry fluids during their event.
