The Jon Ward 5K 2026
The event comprises an in-person 5k at Hereford Leisure Centre and a virtual 5k held across a race week. The in-person race is scheduled for Sunday 16 August 2026 at the cycle track at Hereford Leisure Centre. Entry fees are £19 for affiliated runners and £21 for unattached runners. The virtual event runs between 8 and 16 August 2026 with an entry fee of £14. A bespoke finisher medal is provided for both formats and an optional event T shirt is available for an extra £10 with proceeds to charity.
The in-person course uses the tarmacked cycle track and is five laps to make 5k. The surface is described as smooth and flat, the route will be chip timed, fully marked and marshalled, and a UK Athletics race licence has been applied for. Prizes are listed for first to third placed male and female finishers and finishers receive a medal. Results will be published online after the race.
For the virtual event runners may complete a 5k anywhere during race week and submit a recorded activity via Strava tagging the club or by emailing the club with a screenshot or link. Virtual finishers receive a bespoke medal posted to their address. All profits from the event are to be donated to charity and the race is held in memory of a former club member.
