The Jon Ward 5K 2026
The Jon Ward Hereford 5K is an in-person race held at Hereford Leisure Centre on Holmer Road (HR4 9UD) on Sunday 16 August 2026. The course uses the tarmacked cycle track at the centre and consists of five laps to complete 5k. The surface is described as smooth and flat and the event is chip timed.
Prizes are planned for first, second and third placed men and women. A medal is provided for all finishers. The race is organised with a UK Athletics race licence applied for and the organisers state that all profits will be donated to charity in memory of Jon Ward. An optional event T shirt is available for an extra fee, with profits also going to charity; shirts for virtual participants will be posted and shirts for those attending the venue can be collected at race registration.
A virtual Jon Ward 5k runs during the race week from 8 to 16 August 2026. Virtual entries pay a separate fee, receive a bespoke finisher medal which will be posted after completion, and submit results by uploading activity to Strava and tagging Hereford Couriers or by sending a screenshot or link to the organisers. Virtual runs must be 5 km and submitted according to the event rules; results will be published on the club website after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
