The Jackpot 2 Mile
The Jackpot 2 Mile is a timed two mile race held in Bidwell Park at the Sycamore Pool area in Chico, California. The course uses the new blacktop of North Park Drive and runs one mile out and back from the gate at One Mile on Petersen Memorial Drive. Bibs are assigned and the Chico Running Club race clock will be used, but split times are not visible until runners cross the finish line.
The event uses a blind pacing format. Each runner names a target pace for the two miles before the race. Runners are scored by how close their finish time is to their declared target. Phones and watches may not be used for pacing; organizers perform a tech check at registration and hold devices during the race. Winners are the runners whose times are closest to their targets and prizes are awarded based on placing. Winners must be present to receive prizes.
Race proceeds are divided 50/50 between the race jackpot and Chico Running Club. Funds support the club’s nonprofit mission to support runners, the local running community, and to host races in town. Refreshments are provided after the race. Registration opens April 1, 2026 and closes June 6, 2026. The registration fee is $20.00. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
