The Independence 1 Mile Beer Run
The Independence 1 Mile Beer Run is an American Independence themed social event hosted by the Outer Banks Brewing Station in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. This event is strictly for adults aged 21 and over. Participation is limited to a maximum of 125 runners.
The event consists of a single distance:
- 1 mile beer run
The course is structured around four laps. Participants consume a 12 oz. beverage before each 1/4 mile run segment. The competition follows a drink-run-drink-run sequence until the distance is completed. The course is located at the Outer Banks Brewing Station at Milepost 8 and 3/4 on the Bypass.
Registered participants receive a T-shirt and access to a backyard party held under the windmill in the restaurant's backyard. The event includes competitive elements with prizes awarded to the fastest overall male and female runners. Additionally, there is a costume contest where participants are encouraged to wear patriotic attire, with judging based on creativity.
