The Hunt Trail Race
The Hunt is a series of trail races held at the Cody Archery Range near Cody, Wyoming. The event includes multiple distances on marked singletrack and doubletrack routes that pass through variable terrain and exposure. Weather and trail conditions can be cold, windy, snowy, or muddy.
Distances offered:
- 1 Mile
- 6 Mile
- 16 Mile
- 50K
Aid on course is provided at multiple spaced stations. All aid stations are cupless and supply water, electrolyte drink, and light snacks; runners should carry their own bottle, cup, or hydration pack. The 50K has a 10 hour cut-off; the 16 Mile has an established cut-off that entrants should expect to meet. Volunteers are stationed along the courses and colored flagging marks the route.
Course notes state the first 16 miles of the 50K share the 16 Mile route and are hilly, while later miles are more mellow. Walkers and hikers are permitted only on the shortest distances; the longer distances are reserved for runners. Dogs are not allowed on course.
Post race provisions for registrants include beer and burgers, and additional meal tickets are available for purchase. Event schwag is produced for registrants with distribution subject to registration deadlines. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
