Gates Of Yellowstone Triathlon
The Gates Of Yellowstone Triathlon returns for its second year in Cody, Wyoming. This USAT-certified event takes place at Shirley's Pond and the Buffalo Bill Reservoir, positioned near the Shoshone National Forest. Participants compete in an environment characterized by mountain vistas and expansive valley landscapes.
The competition includes several distance options to accommodate different athletic goals:
- Sprint Distance: 750m swim, 20km bike, and 5km run.
- Olympic Distance: 1.5km swim, 40km bike, and 10k run.
- Half Distance: 1.9km swim, 90km bike, and 21.1km run.
- Olympic Relay: A team-based version of the Olympic distance.
The swimming portion occurs in the waters of the Buffalo Bill Reservoir. Following the swim, the bike course leads athletes through the rolling hills of the South Fork Valley. The final segment of the race is a run on a semi-flat course that offers views of the reservoir and the peaks of the Shoshone National Forest.
Registration for the event opens in December 2025. The transition area and event base are located at the reservoir, providing a central point for the multi-sport disciplines. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
