The Homer Classic 8k / Homer Parade Mile
The event spans two days in Silverton, Oregon as part of the Homer Davenport Community Festival. Saturday features the Homer Parade Mile through downtown Silverton, with runners leading the festival parade along the downtown route. The parade mile starts on North Water Street near Silverton Middle School and finishes just past Roth's Fresh Market on North First Street.
Sunday features the Homer Classic 5K with start and finish at Silverton High School, 1456 Pine Street. There is plentiful parking at the high school. The 5K course passes through the Historic Gallon House Bridge, noted as the only covered bridge in Marion County.
Race options include separate entries for the parade mile and the 5K, and a combined entry for both events. T-shirts are available for an additional fee and registrants who register before July 14 are guaranteed a shirt. Race packets are available on race day and day-of registration is offered.
The races are organized by the Silverton Runners' Club. Proceeds support Silverton, Gervais and Mt. Angel schools' track and cross country programs, scholarships for youth runners to attend running camps, and other local fitness activities. No dogs or motorized vehicles are permitted on the race routes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
