The Hennepin Hundred
The Hennepin Hundred is a point to point, all-trail ultramarathon in northwest Illinois that runs along the Hennepin Canal State Trail between Sterling and Colona. The event includes multiple distances and a team relay and follows the canal across historic locks and lift bridges past farms and small towns.
Race distances include:
- 100 mile
- 100 mile team relay
- 50 mile
- 50K
Aid stations are stocked and placed every 3 to 7 miles. Bus service runs from finish area parking to the start line; bus service costs $10.00. The race uses a 30 hour course cutoff; finishing within that time can serve as a Western States qualifying performance. Race photography is provided and photos are free to download for social media.
Registration details provided by the organizer note an early bird pricing period until January 1 with listed entry fees and a registration close date of September 25. The organizer offers a rollover policy: a no cost rollover option if notified by 70 days before the event, a 50% race credit option available until 25 days before the event, and no refunds. Volunteer incentives include credit toward future events for aid station captains and volunteers, plus event swag and an invite to a volunteer party.
Finishers receive event swag by distance, including flannel and a buckle for 100 mile finishers, and finisher medals and shirts for shorter distances. Awards are given for top overall and age group placements. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
