Harvest Hammer 5K & Duathlon
Harvest Hammer is a community running and multisport event presented by the Morrison, Illinois Rotary Club. All events begin at Morrison High School, 643 Genesee Street, with parking available on Academic Drive and behind Southside School. GPS users are advised to use Academic Drive because Genesee Street may be blocked.
The event program includes multiple distances and formats:
- 5K run on an out-and-back course.
- Duathlon with a 3.1 mile run plus a 21-mile bike segment.
- Children's races including 1/3 mile, 1/2 mile, and 1 mile distances.
- Color Run approximately 6/10 mile.
The 5K is an out-and-back course that starts in front of the high school, turns onto Prairie Center Road, Lister Road, and Harvey Road, with a turnaround on top of a hill. There are water stops near the one-mile and two-mile marks. The course includes a flat opening section, a small hill before mile one, a medium hill before the turnaround, and a downhill return.
The bike course is two laps with rolling hills; notable climbs occur before the first mile and at the start of the second lap. Duathletes must be at least 14 years old and wear an ANSI-certified helmet. Children's participants receive a T-shirt and participation ribbon; awards are given to top finishers in adult and youth categories. The color run is open to all ages and uses colored powder along the route. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
