Event overview
The Hardmoors 200 is a single-stage ultramarathon of 200 miles held every two years, scheduled for 22–24 May 2026. Competitors have a maximum of 60 hours to complete the full route. Entry is limited to 50 solo runners; minimum age is 21. Solo entry fees range from about £248 to £280 depending on affiliation and entry period. Relay teams are allowed (minimum 2, maximum 6 runners) with a team fee of £300; one tracker is provided per relay entry. The race has an ARC permit and a stated total ascent of 24,300 ft / 7,400 m.
Route, support and rules
The route starts in Kingston upon Hull, follows the Transpennine Trail to the start of the Wolds Way near the Humber Bridge, then follows the Yorkshire Wolds Way for about 79 miles to Filey Brigg. The second section follows the full 112 miles of the Cleveland Way/Hardmoors 110 along the North Yorkshire coast, passing Scarborough, Robin Hood’s Bay, Whitby, Staithes, Runswick Bay and Saltburn, then inland through the Cleveland Hills and North York Moors to finish at Helmsley. Competitors must have a motorised support team; teams may be shared and there are no exceptions. Mandatory kit is checked before, during and after the race and includes items such as hat and gloves, waterproof jacket, minimum 1 litre water, headtorch and spare batteries, route description or maps, whistle, survival bag, foil blanket, emergency food, mobile phone and a cup.
