The Hamsterwheel is a timed loop running event held near the Hillsborough County Fairground entrance in New Boston, NH. The course follows the New Boston Rail Trail along the Piscataquog River to the turnaround at Lang's Station, then returns to a gravel service road around the fairgrounds. The loop measures 4.0 miles and is described as largely flat with one minor speedbump. The course will be marked with visible signs and flags.

Loop tracking is handled at the Start/Finish with chipped bibs by Second Wind Timing; runners are asked to place bibs on the front of their bodies so numbers are clearly visible. A single central aid station at the Start/Finish will supply water, electrolyte drinks, sodas, fruits, energy gels and other food items; 24 and 30 hour entrants receive breakfast. Previous food options have included soups, pizza, mac and cheese and apple crisp.

Teams may enter by having each member register separately and providing a team name. Buckles are awarded for running 100 miles individually or as a team. Pacers are not allowed for the 6 hour event; for longer durations pacers are permitted after dark with one pacer at a time. Pacers and crew must obtain a food ticket. Dogs are not allowed on the grounds. Tents, small canopies and RVs are permitted, and all runners and crews must exit the grounds on Sunday.

The event refund policy allows a full refund minus platform fees if a cancellation is processed through the registration platform at least 60 days before the event; within 60 days the fee is forfeited or a deferment may be requested for the following year.
