The Great Turkey Chase 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run
The Horace Mann PTA is organizing the sixth annual Great Turkey Chase on November 15, 2026 at 4430 Newark St NW, Washington, DC 20016. The event combines a community 5K and a 1 Mile fun run held on school property and through the surrounding neighborhood.

Registration opens July 31, 2026. General registration for the public closes October 15, 2026. Registration for Mann students, faculty, and staff remains open through November 15, 2026. Standard registration fees are $35.00 and a reduced fee of $20.00 applies for Mann students, faculty, and staff.
The event is a fundraiser. More than 75% of PTA fundraising dollars are allocated to salaries for partner teachers and specialists that are not provided by DCPS. The PTA also funds educational programs such as gardening and language, professional development, classroom enrichment, facility enhancements, and similar initiatives. During registration there is an option to add a donation toward a grade-level competition; students soliciting donations may be credited for Pajama Day and Pizza Party rewards.
The course will not be closed to traffic. Participants are expected to stay on sidewalks and use caution while moving through the neighborhood. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
