Event overview
The Horace Mann PTA is hosting the fifth annual Great Turkey Chase 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run on November 16, 2025, in Washington, DC. The event is based at Horace Mann, 4430 Newark St NW, Washington, DC 20016. The course is not on a closed road; participants are asked to keep to sidewalks and use caution while running through the neighborhood.

Fundraising and logistics
The event raises funds for Horace Mann PTA programs. The PTA states that over 75% of its fundraising dollars support salaries for partner teachers and specialists not provided by DCPS. The PTA also funds programs such as gardening and language instruction, professional development, classroom enrichment, and facility enhancements. Students may collect donations for a grade competition; donated funds can be designated to a student and grade. Prize incentives for the competition include a Pajama Day and a Pizza Party.
General registration fees listed are $50 for the open 5K and 1 Mile events and $20 for the Mann students/faculty/staff categories. Prices increase after November 9, 2025. T-shirt sizes and printed bibs are not guaranteed for registrations submitted after October 27, 2025. Packet pick-up is available at Horace Mann on the listed pre-race dates and on race day.
