The Funky Run
The Funky Run is a multi-day event held in mid-August at Vista View Park, 4001 SW 142nd Ave, Davie, FL 33330, in western Broward County. It offers in-person and virtual options with themed music and costume elements tied to a disco era theme.
Distances offered:
- 5.4 miles: two 2.7 mile loops around and over two hills
- 2.7 miles: one lap of the same course
- Virtual 5.4 miles: run remotely the same distance as the in-person 5.4 option
In-person participants receive a t-shirt and finisher medal. Overall awards are offered to the top three male and female finishers, and age-group awards are offered to the top three in each age group. Age groups span 0–9, 10–14, 15–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, 70–79, 80–89, and 90 and up. Age-group awards use chip time while overall awards use gun time. Virtual participants receive a t-shirt and finisher medal but are not eligible for overall or age-group awards; virtual swag is mailed to the US address provided, with shipping via the United States Postal Service within two weeks of the in-person event.
Parking at the park is first come, first serve and the entrance can become backed up; the organizer covers the park entrance fee. Packet pickup is available at a designated area and there is no on-site registration. If circumstances prevent a safe in-person race the organizer will transfer in-person registrations to the virtual event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
