The Full Essex Way Ultra
The Full Essex Way Ultra is a long-distance running event that follows the entirety of the Essex Way trail. The course begins at Epping tube station on the outskirts of London and concludes at the high lighthouse within the historic port of Harwich. This route connects the city area to the sea, traversing various landscapes across the county of Essex.
Participants cover a total distance of 82 miles. The terrain consists of a mixture of trails, footpaths, tracks, and road sections. Over the course of the route, runners encounter a total elevation gain of approximately 3,469 feet. The event has a designated cut-off time of 24 hours for completion.
The race utilizes GPS tracking and timing for all participants. There are five checkpoints located along the course to provide assistance. Runners are permitted one drop bag for the event. A professional medical team is present to provide support throughout the duration of the race. Entry fees differ slightly for affiliated and unaffiliated runners, and a portion of every entry fee is donated to the Essex Wildlife Trust.
