Event overview

Nuclear Mud Tribe is a series of muddy obstacle-course waves held at Nuclear Essex in Brentwood, Essex. The event offers a mix of mud, foam and a variety of obstacles designed so no upper-body strength is required. Participants go at their own pace; there is no chip timing. Finish-line provisions include a finisher medal, a hot wash-down, changing rooms, bag drop and a free finisher photo. Professional photographers capture action shots on course.

Distances

  • 1.5 km family course (approx. 1 hour)
  • 5 km standard Mud Tribe course (approx. 2 hours)
  • 6 km Mud Tribe Blast - extra 1 km with tougher obstacles (approx. 2 hours)

Eligibility and supervision

Minimum ages differ by wave: 1.5 km is open from age 4+, 5 km from age 7+, and the Mud Tribe Blast from age 13+. For younger participants the organiser requires adult supervision: 1.5 km and 5 km entries note that children must be accompanied by a paying adult, and the Blast wave requires minors to be accompanied (organiser states a maximum ratio of three children per one adult for under-16s).

Practical details

The site is in Brentwood, Essex, about 15 minutes from the A12, M25 and M11 and about 15 minutes by taxi from Brentwood railway station or Epping Underground station. The event includes water obstacles but no full water submersion. Published ticket prices vary by wave; listed current prices include booking fees.
