The Forge Trail Run Festival - Lemont, IL

The Forge Trail Run Festival takes place on November 14, 2026, at The Forge in Lemont, Illinois (227 Heritage Quarries Dr.). The event features multiple trail distances run on single- and double-track trails within the woods and on some gravel around the historic Lemont Quarries and the I&M Canal. Courses start and finish inside The Forge and follow loops through adjoining trails.

Distances

  • 10K one lap
  • 20K (Half Marathon) two laps
  • 30K three laps
  • 60K six laps

The gravel sections are flat. Single-track sections have variable surfaces including dirt, grass, rocks, mud, roots, mulch and occasional stumps. A few single-track sections are technical with several short, steep inclines and downhills. There are not any significant elevation changes; the primary characteristic is the variable surface.

Aid and logistics: there is a staffed aid station at approximately mile 6.2 for the 20K, 30K and 60K as those races begin additional laps. There is no aid station on the 10K; runners should plan to carry hydration and fuel and to carry refillable bottles where possible. Trail running shoes are recommended.

Field and awards: the race is capped at 400 entrants. Awards are given to 1st through 3rd overall male and female in each distance. Parking is available in Lots 1 and 2 with access across the I&M Canal bridges. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
