Trail Running in Lemont
The Forge Trail Run Festival takes place at The Forge and utilizes adjoining trail networks. The event features four distinct distances that traverse the woods and the area surrounding the historic Lemont Quarries and the I&M Canal.
The available trail distances include:
- 10K: A single-lap course covering approximately 6.2 miles.
- 20K (Half Marathon): A two-lap course covering approximately 13.1 miles.
- 30K: A three-lap course covering approximately 18.6 miles.
- 60K: A six-lap course covering approximately 37.2 miles.
The terrain consists of a mix of single-track and double-track trails. While the gravel sections of the course are flat, the single-track portions feature variable surfaces including dirt, grass, rocks, mud, roots, mulch, and stumps. Participants will encounter some technical sections with short, steep inclines and descents. Although there are no significant elevation changes throughout the routes, the primary difficulty factor is the variety of the underfoot conditions. Both the start and finish lines are located within The Forge. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
