Trail Running in Colt Creek State Park
The Florida Run takes place at Colt Creek State Park in Lakeland, Florida. Participants navigate a course characterized by flat terrain, towering pine trees, and views of serene lakes. The event occurs within a pristine wilderness setting, providing a natural environment for trail running through wooded areas.
The following distances are available:
- Half Marathon (13.1 Miles)
- 10k (6.2 Miles)
- 5K (3.1 Miles)
The courses are marked with signage to guide runners. Aid stations are positioned every 2.5 miles along the route; some stations are self-serve while others are staffed by volunteers. Restrooms are accessible on the course for both the Half Marathon and the 10k. All events are professionally chip-timed and managed.
Athletes receive a medal, a swag item, and post-race snacks upon completion. Awards are presented for overall winners and specific age groups across all event distances. The event also hosts a Run Club Competition where teams can compete for performance awards using cross-country scoring, and a separate award is given to the largest participating group.
