The Fanciest 5K Ever
The event is a community 5K held in Salem, Oregon, that raises funds for Safety Compass, a local nonprofit that provides free, confidential advocacy for survivors of sex trafficking in the mid-Willamette Valley. Participants are encouraged to wear formal attire such as dresses, tuxedos, bow ties, top hats and tiaras while they run.
There are in person and virtual options. The in person event starts and finishes at West Coast Strength (290 Moyer Ln NW) and follows a 5K route through Wallace Marine Park and River Front Park. On race day there is participant check in, bib and t-shirt pick-up, and day of registration inside West Coast Strength. A finish line party with snacks and prizes takes place at West Coast Strength, and an awards ceremony recognizes top finishers, top fundraisers and fanciest outfits.
Virtual participants can complete the 5K from their own location, submit a time and photos, and receive a medal. Runners may register as individuals or form teams and set fundraising goals; prizes are offered for top fundraisers. Registration opens 2026-08-31 and closes 2026-09-30.
