The Endless Mile
The Endless Mile is a timed running event in Veterans Park, Alabaster, Alabama. Participants run as many laps as possible within a chosen time limit on a paved, looped course.
Race Format
Participants can choose from several timed events: 72hrs, 48hrs, 24hrs, 12hrs, and 6hrs. Marathon (27 laps, 27.055 miles) and 50K (31 laps, 31.063 miles) distance options are also available. Runners can start the marathon or 50K anytime during the event weekend.
The event features an electronic chip timing system and a USATF-certified loop that is 1.00203 miles long. Every six hours, the direction of the course is reversed. The course is lit at night.
Event Amenities
A full aid station operates for 72 hours. It provides meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), a 24-hour menu with burgers, nachos, and hot soup, and standard snacks and drinks. The event is a cupless race, so runners must provide their own cup for cold beverages. Real restrooms with running water are available at the park.
Accommodations include rental options for tents (8x8 or 10x10) for runners in the 24, 48, and 72-hour events. Student discounts are available with a code for high school-aged participants.
Logistics
Packet pickup occurs on Wednesday for 72-hour runners and on Friday morning for 48-hour runners. For the marathon, 50K, 6-hour, 12-hour, and 24-hour events, packet pickup is on Saturday morning. All vehicles must park in marked spaces. Registration closes online before the event; there is no race day registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
