The Drop - Milton Keynes
The Drop is a stripped-back navigation challenge based at Up & Running, Central Retail Park, Patriot Dr, Bradwell Common, Milton Keynes MK13 8PU. Participants are taken to an unknown location and must find their own way back to the event centre on foot with no route markers or reassurance.
Distances and options:
- 6 miles open only to non-locals to preserve fairness.
- 10 miles core Drop option with the same rules and deployment.
- 15 miles original Drop option with a longer distance and extended decision making.
At registration participants hand over electronic devices, watches, and navigational aids, and receive a race number plus a sealed emergency bag to carry for the duration. Deployment is by bus while wearing blackout blindfolds or approved alternatives; the drop point is undisclosed and participants will not know their direction when they step off the bus.
Rules include no GPS, no unauthorised maps, travel on foot only, and maintaining the emergency bag seal. Distances are measured as the crow flies so actual travel will be longer. Live GPS tracking is offered as an optional feature for safety; trackers are accurate to about 5 metres, must be returned after the event, and may incur a replacement fee if not returned.
