Event overview

The Drop - Leeds is an orienteering-style challenge with a scheduled next race date of 03/01/2026. The event centre is at Up & Running, 12 Boar Ln, Leeds, LS1 6EN. Participants choose between the following distances and may enter solo or as part of a team:

  • 15-mile option, measured as the crow flies
  • 10-mile option, measured as the crow flies

Participants board a bus and wear blindness coverings for the transfer to an undisclosed drop-off location. From that drop-off they must find their way back to the event centre without provided routes or navigational aids.

Rules and practical information

Participants surrender electronic devices, watches, and navigational aids at registration and receive a race number and an emergency bag. All devices that record progress must be sealed in the emergency bag; breaking the seal leads to disqualification. Organisers may provide maps but no unauthorised maps are allowed. No GPS or unauthorised navigational help may be used while completing the course.

An optional live GPS tracking service is available for an extra cost and requires login details provided before the event. Trackers are said to be accurate within 5 metres but can be affected by tall buildings and signal black spots. Trackers must be returned to staff after the event or a £175 replacement fee will apply. Parking is available in the town centre; the nearest railway station is a 10 minute walk and the bus station is about 5 minutes from the event HQ. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
