Format, rules and logistics
At registration participants hand over electronic devices, watches, and navigational aids and receive a race number and an emergency bag. Blindfolds or blackout safety goggles are used before the drop; an alternative is available if needed. The emergency bag must remain sealed during the challenge; breaking the seal leads to disqualification. Other rules include no GPS use (devices may be sealed in the emergency bag), no unauthorised maps, and no shortcuts.
Live GPS tracking is offered as an optional, paid feature; trackers must be returned to staff after the event or a £175 replacement fee applies. Trackers are stated to be accurate within 5 metres but can be affected by buildings and placement. Parking is available in the town centre.
