The Drop - Horsham
The Drop - Horsham is a navigation challenge centered on self-sufficiency and decision-making. Unlike a standard race, this event provides no marked route, no directions, and no navigational assistance. Participants are transported by bus from the event center at Up & Running in Horsham to an unknown location while wearing blackout blindfolds or safety goggles. Once dropped, the objective is to find a way back to the start point on foot.
At registration, participants must hand over all electronic devices, watches, and navigational aids. In exchange, they receive a race number and a sealed emergency bag containing their phone or GPS device, which may only be used to record activity if the seal remains unbroken. Breaking the seal results in disqualification.
The event offers three distance options based on "as the crow flies" measurements; however, the actual distance traveled on the ground will be significantly longer:
- 15 miles - The original and longest distance option.
- 10 miles - A shorter version utilizing the same rules and deployment methods.
- 6 miles - This distance is strictly reserved for non-locals who do not have prior knowledge of the area.
Optional live GPS tracking is available for safety and to allow others to follow a participant's progress remotely. The event center is located a ten-minute walk from the local railway station and five minutes from the bus station. Participation is open to individuals aged 18 and over.
