The Drop - Horsham
The Drop is a stripped-back navigation challenge held from Up & Running, 20 Queen Street, Horsham RH13 5AF. Participants are taken to an unknown location and must find their own way back to the event centre without route guidance or reassurance.
Distances offered include:
- 6 mile Drop open only to non-locals.
- 10 mile Drop dropped 10 miles as the crow flies.
- 15 mile Drop dropped 15 miles as the crow flies.
At registration participants hand over electronic devices, watches, and navigational aids. In exchange they receive a race number and a sealed emergency bag that must be carried for the duration of the event.
Deployment is by bus while wearing blackout blindfolds or approved alternatives. When blindfolds are removed the participant's time starts. Participants have no map, no GPS, no compass, and no external help; travel must be on foot only. Rules include no unauthorised maps, no transport, and disqualification if the emergency bag seal is broken.
Live GPS tracking is offered as an optional safety feature. Trackers are accurate within about 5 metres, require good placement for best performance, and must be returned after the event or a replacement fee will apply. Parking is available in the town centre and rail and bus links are nearby. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
