Serpent Trail Ultra Run : Haslemere
This is a guided trail run of 30 miles starting and finishing in Haslemere, Surrey. The route uses sections of the Serpent Trail and the Sussex Border Path and passes landmarks such as Blackdown and the Temple of the Winds lookout, with views toward the South Downs. Runners follow trails across fields, ancient woodland, rare heathland and valleys, with a refreshment break mid route.
The run is led by an experienced ultra runner, mountain leader, qualified guide and coach who manages navigation and can answer running questions. It is run as a group rather than a race; participants often hike steeper climbs and regroup regularly. Organisers advise that participants have completed at least 22 miles in training and can maintain an average trail pace of around 10 minutes per mile (6:15 min/km) for prolonged periods. Faster runners should expect some sections to be at an easier, social pace.
Practical details include a provided kit list, available car parking near the meet point, and a train station a short run or taxi ride away. The event fee is £55 per person.
