Format, rules and logistics

At registration participants hand over electronic devices and receive a race number and an emergency bag. Competitors are transported by bus to an undisclosed drop-off location while blindfolded or using an alternative blackout safety goggle if needed. From the drop-off they must return to the event centre using no maps, GPS, route, compass, or outside help.

Rules include sealing any recording device in the provided emergency bag and not breaking the seal; breaking the seal leads to disqualification. Organisers may provide maps only if they choose to do so. Live GPS tracking is available as an optional, paid feature; trackers must be returned after the event or a £175 replacement fee applies. Parking is available in the town centre; the nearest railway station is about a 20 minute walk and the bus station about 15 minutes from event HQ. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
