The Drop - Birmingham

The Drop is a stripped-back navigation challenge held at Blackroot Bistro, Sutton Park, Sutton Coldfield. Participants are transported blindfolded to an undisclosed drop location and must find their own way back to the event centre without navigation aids.

Registration requires participants to hand over electronic devices, watches, and navigational aids. Each participant receives a race number and a sealed emergency bag that must be carried for the duration; breaking the seal leads to disqualification.

Deployment uses a bus and blackout blindfolds or approved alternatives. When blindfolds are removed, participants' time starts and every decision is their responsibility. Movement is on foot only; no transport or shortcuts are allowed.

Distances offered include:

• 15 miles measured as the crow flies.
• 10 miles measured as the crow flies.
• 6 miles measured as the crow flies, open to non-locals only.

Rules prohibit GPS and unauthorised maps; devices may only record if sealed inside the emergency bag. Live GPS tracking is available as an optional paid feature and trackers must be returned after the event or a replacement fee applies. Parking is the participant's responsibility.
