9 Locks Challenge : event overview
The 9 Locks 10K Challenge is a point to point running event covering 10K from Stourbridge to Brierley Hill along a historic canal route once powered by the Industrial Revolution. The route combines leafy paths and industrial sections and includes the nine-lock climb in the final stretch. A medal is presented at the finish.
The event is held in summer and winter; listed dates include Sunday 30 May 2027 (summer) and Sunday 29 November 2026 (winter). A race briefing is provided as a video and a race booklet is available for competitors. Results from past editions are maintained.
Logistics and services include coach transport from the finish area to the start as part of the race fee, with plans for up to three 53-seater coaches that cycle until all competitors are collected. Parking is available at the finish Waterfront car park; that car park is free while nearby Hop House parking incurs charges. Toilets are available at the Bonded Warehouse and at Wetherspoons / Hop House.
Practical notes from the organiser: bibs are collected on the day, registration takes place at the Bonded Warehouse, a bag drop is provided though it may reach the finish after some competitors, and a water station is located at the 5 km halfway point.
