About the race
Machen Mountain Race is a 7 km fell race with 365 m of ascent, held near Machen. Registration takes place at Machen Welfare Ground on Tyn-Y-Waun Road, CF83 8LA, with the start/finish on Church Street. The entry fee is £7 on the day, and the age limit is over 18.
The course traverses steep, loose, uneven terrain typical of fell racing, with vegetation cleared where possible. Runners should wear trail or fell shoes; footwear and clothing may be adjusted for slippery conditions, and windproof gear could be required in adverse weather.
