About the race
RUDUM by Pegasus is an ultra running event organised by Pegasus Ultra Running and Stable Adventures in Caerphilly, UK. The RUDUM is a new version of the RIDUM created for the organiser's 10th anniversary and explores hills around Caerphilly including Mynydd Rudry, Caerphilly Common, The Garth and Cefn Orr.
The event offers two distances:
- RUDUM 30: 30 miles single loop on the Rhymney Valley Ridgeway and Cambrian Way
- RUDUM HALF: 15 miles sharing the latter part of the full route
The single loop follows the Rhymney Valley Ridgeway Walk and parts of the Cambrian Way, climbing features such as The Garth and Mynydd Machen and passing ridgelines to Cefn Orr. The course gains about 5,000 feet of elevation over mixed terrain including woodland paths, trail, grass and some tarmac, so appropriate footwear is required. The landscape shows local industrial heritage and passes views toward Caerphilly and its castle.
Event services include two fully stocked aid stations on the full route, a midpoint water stop with drop bag access, professional medical cover, a finisher's medal and a race manual. There are no cut off times and the event is volunteer led with community-focused support. Entry capacity is limited, with 200 places for the full route and 100 for the half.
A Pegasus SLAM and a new HALF SLAM run alongside the series; completing six qualifying races earns a series memento, discounted series entry and guaranteed entry to Pegasus events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
