The RIDUM 2026

The RIDUM 2026 is a planned ultra marathon on 5 September 2026. The route is a circular 30-mile course that follows much of the Rhymney Valley Ridgeway Walk around the ridge tops of the Caerphilly basin and encircles the River Rhymney. The race starts and finishes at Parc Penalta. The course includes Mynydd Machen, listed as the highest point on the trail at 362 metres (1,188 ft). Total elevation for the route is approximately 4,400 ft.

Course and logistics

Terrain is mostly off-road, described as 90% trail and 10% road. There are three fully manned checkpoints along the route. Checkpoints are stocked with snacks, fresh fruit, hot and cold drinks, seating, power banks and music. Organisers state there are no official time limits for completing the route.

Kit, route files and entries

Mandatory kit includes appropriate footwear, a 1-litre water carrier, a mobile phone, a head lamp or other light source, a foil blanket, a waterproof jacket and a rucksack. Route files are supplied via Plotaroute to allow for last-minute updates and downloadable formats for navigation devices. Entry benefits listed include a Pegasus medal, post-race care, staffed checkpoints and event crew support. Organisers say dietary requirements at checkpoints will be accommodated. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
