About the race
The Dirt Dash is a trail running event on September 12, 2026 in Johns Island, South Carolina, organized by Palmetto Ultras and held at Johns Island County Park. The event offers multiple distances on a looped trail course that returns to a central start/finish area.
Distances offered:
- Marathon: 8 loops of the 3.3 mile course
- Half Marathon: 4 loops of the 3.3 mile course
- 10K: 2 loops of the 3.3 mile course
- 5K: 1 loop of the 3.3 mile course
The course is approximately a 3.3 mile loop with a mix of wide open cross country type trails, single and double track, and short grassy sections. The loop passes through areas with oak trees and Spanish moss typical of the Lowcountry. There is one aid station located at the start/finish that is stocked with snacks, water, and electrolyte drink. The event is cupless; participants should bring a cup, bottle, or hydration bladder. Runners may use a designated drop bag area near the aid station; the organizers are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Packet pickup is available before the race at THE FOOT STORE in Mount Pleasant and on race morning at the Palmetto Ultras tent. Camping for tents and RVs is available on site the night before; the park has a bath house with showers. Registrations completed by August 19 receive a event t-shirt. The event is scheduled to run rain or shine unless CCPRC deems conditions unsafe. No refunds are issued; transfers or deferrals are offered under the organizer policy.
