The Dirt Dash - Johns Island, SC
The Dirt Dash is a trail running event presented by Palmetto Ultras at Johns Island County Park, located at 2662 Mullet Hall Road. The course runs through Lowcountry landscapes with sections of open cross country trails, single and double track, a small grassy trail, and stretches lined with oak trees and Spanish moss.
The course uses a roughly 3.3 mile loop. Runners complete multiple loops depending on distance:
- 5K : one 3.3 mile loop
- 10K : two 3.3 mile loops
- Half marathon : four 3.3 mile loops
- Marathon : eight 3.3 mile loops
There is one fully stocked aid station at the start/finish area offering water, electrolyte drink, and snacks such as gummy candy, chips, and pretzels. The event is cupless; participants should bring a cup, bottle, or bladder. Drop bags may be left at a designated area near the aid station. Dogs are not allowed on the course due to insurance restrictions.
Packet pickup is available at THE FOOT STORE in Mount Pleasant on Thursday, September 10, and on race morning at the Palmetto Ultras tent. Camping in tents or RVs is available on site the night before, with bath house facilities and showers. Registrants by August 19 receive a race t-shirt; finishers receive a custom finisher's medal. Youth runners aged 14 and younger are eligible for a 15% discount. Volunteer hours can be exchanged for race entry discounts. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
