The Dirt Dash
The Dirt Dash is a trail running event held at Johns Island County Park in Johns Island, SC, organized by Palmetto Ultras and presented by The Foot Store. The course is a roughly 3.3 mile loop that combines wide open cross country type trails, single and double track, and short grassy sections.
Distances offered:
- Marathon : eight 3.3 mile loops
- Half Marathon : four 3.3 mile loops
- 10K : two 3.3 mile loops
- 5K : one 3.3 mile loop
A single aid station is located at the start/finish area and is stocked with items such as gummy candy, chips, pretzels, water, and electrolyte drink. There is one water stop on the course. The event is cupless; participants should bring a cup, bottle, or hydration bladder. Runners may leave supplies in a designated drop bag area near the aid station; the organizers are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Packet pickup is available at THE FOOT STORE in Mount Pleasant and at the Palmetto Ultras tent on race day. Onsite tent and RV camping are offered, and the park has a bath house with bathrooms and showers. Registration by August 19 guarantees the event shirt. A seven hour cutoff applies. No dogs are allowed on course due to insurance policy. Volunteer hours can be exchanged for race entry discounts. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
