The Dirt Circuit : Panther Creek State Park, Morristown TN
The Dirt Circuit is a multi-distance trail event held at Panther Creek State Park near Cherokee Lake. The event uses a measured loop of approximately 2.9 miles that combines wide and single-track trails through fields and woods and includes two wooden bridge crossings. The loop starts and finishes at the soccer fields, which serve as Base Camp for the weekend.
Event formats include individual and team relay options plus a ruck division. Relay teams may choose their own exchange strategy and only one team member may be on course for a team at a time. The ruck division is restricted to rucksacks only with required dry weights: men 30 lb, females 20 lb, boys under 15 20 lb, girls under 15 10 lb. Finishers in the ruck division receive a ruck patch.
There is a single aid station located at Base Camp stocked with water, electrolyte drinks, gels, fruit, snacks, and first aid. Pizza and other cooked foods are provided at set times during the event. The race is cup free so runners must carry their own hydration. Runners must wear their race bib on the front to receive lap credit. Pacing and crewing are permitted. Unsportsmanlike conduct, course cutting, littering, or policy violations are grounds for disqualification.
Primitive camping at Base Camp is included with registration for Friday and Saturday nights. RV sites and cabins are available through the park. Registration closes on September 18. No refunds or deferrals are offered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
