Course, rules, and awards
Both courses are USATF certified (Half: TN15005MS; 10K: TN15006MS). The course runs through Jefferson County and the Holston River Valley with views of Clinch and House Mountain. The 10K is a mostly flat out-and-back course with a few climbs; the half marathon is a scenic, rolling course and is not walker friendly. The course is open to traffic, so the use of headphones is strongly discouraged. The half marathon has an age minimum of 15 and the course will close after 3 hours and 30 minutes.
Awards are given for top finishers overall, masters, grand masters, senior grand masters, and Clydesdale/Athena divisions, plus age-group awards in five-year increments. All finishers in both distances receive a commemorative finisher's medal. The races are part of the Grand Prix team competition; Grand Prix eligibility requires KTC membership and volunteer service. Race shirts are provided to those registered before February 1, 2026; afterwards shirts are available while supplies last. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
