The Descent 1
The Descent 1 is a point to point net downhill road race covering 10km from Scammonden to West Vale. The route has an approximate net descent of 300 metres and is fully road based from start to finish.
The course runs along quiet upland roads with wide sections, sweeping descents and long runnable downhill stretches. It is described as fast and scenic, is well marked and chip timed, and finishes deep in the valley at West Vale.
Registration takes place at the finish location in West Vale and a bus transfer is provided from the finish to the start at Scammonden. All finishers receive a medal at the finish. T-shirts are not included in the entry fee and must be pre-ordered to receive one.
Entries are limited to a maximum of 100 places. The event is presented as a simple downhill road race focused on speed and a continuous descent from hillside to town, with no loops or trail sections. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
