The Descent 1
The Descent 1 is a point-to-point downhill road race from Scammonden to West Vale. The course covers 10km (6.2 miles) with a net descent of approximately 300 metres. The route is fully road based from start to finish.
The course runs along quiet upland roads with wide, sweeping descents and long runnable downhill sections. It is designed for road shoes and is described as fast and flowing. The route is well marked and chip timed.
The event includes a finisher medal for all participants; a t-shirt is not included unless pre-ordered. Entry is limited to 100 places. The advertised location is Green Lane Greetland, Halifax HX4 8AD. Parking is noted as being across the road behind the Brow Bridge Cafe.
The Descent is presented as a simple, single-direction road race with no loops and no trail sections. The emphasis is on speed, simplicity and scenic roads as runners move from higher ground down into the valley and finish in West Vale.
