The Descent 1
The Descent 1 is a point-to-point downhill road race from Scammonden to West Vale. The course is fully road based and covers a distance of 10km with a net descent of approximately 300 metres. Runners follow wide upland roads with open views and long, runnable downhill sections designed for road shoes.
The route is well marked and chip timed. The event uses the finish location on Green Lane Greetland Halifax HX4 8AD for registration and provides bus transport to the start at Scammonden. All finishers receive a medal included with entry; t-shirts are available only if pre-ordered.
Expect quiet roads, sweeping descents and a flowing, mostly downhill route with no loops and no trail sections. Entry is limited to a maximum of 100 places. Parking is available across the road behind the Brow Bridge Cafe. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
