The Dartmoor Marathon
The Dartmoor Marathon is a road race held in the Devon region. The course begins and ends in the market town of Tavistock at Bedford Square. Participants travel through Dartmoor National Park, experiencing a route characterized by smooth roads, significant elevation changes, and views of rugged natural terrain.
The course passes several notable landmarks including Princetown and the historic Dartmoor Prison. Runners also navigate around the Burrator Reservoir, an area known for the presence of local Dartmoor ponies. The event holds Race License #29844.
There are two primary distances available for participants:
- Full Marathon (approx. 42.2 km)
- Drake Community Mile (approx. 1.6 km)
Complimentary entries for the marathon distance are available for elite athletes who have met specific qualifying times since January 1, 2024. The qualifying standards are set at 2:20:00 for men and 2:48:00 for women. General entry for the marathon is open to individuals aged 18 and over.
