Tavy 5k
The Tavy 5k is a monthly 5k road race organised by Tavistock Athletic Club and held on the third Saturday of each month. The officially measured course is described as fast and flat and uses tarmac footpaths around Tavistock Community College and through The Meadows park. The route starts and finishes on the Tavistock A.C. athletic track and sweeps behind the college grounds before returning to the track.
The event is governed by UK Athletics rules and holds a licence covering races from June 2026 to May 2027. Age category records have been updated to align with new UK Athletics guidance, now using U12, U14, U16 and U18 categories. Race rules for younger runners state that children under 11 on race day are not permitted to run, while runners aged 11 to under 18 may take part only with written permission from a parent or legal guardian. Consent forms are available at the event when a parent or guardian is present, or visiting juniors may bring a signed letter of permission.
Entry fees are stated as £4 for unaffiliated runners and £2 for affiliated runners. Free car parking is available at the college. Monthly results and course records are published by the organisers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
