The Cove - Chickamauga, GA
The Cove is a trail race held March 13, 2027, in McLemore Cove at Mountain Cove Farms near Chickamauga, GA. The cove sits between Lookout Mountain and Pigeon Mountain and represents a transition zone between the Cumberland Plateau and the Ridge and Valley province of the Appalachian Mountains. The venue is described as roughly 45 minutes from downtown Chattanooga, TN and Fort Payne, AL, and about 1 hour from Dalton, GA.
Courses start in The Cove and climb Pigeon Mountain. Course features and nearby points of interest include Rocktown, Ellison's Cave (participants will be kept clear of hazards), the ghost town of Estelle, old railroad tunnels on the Estelle Mines Trail, Pocket Falls, the High Point Overlook, and Whiskey Hollow.
Distances:
- 10K: 650 ft of elevation gain
- 30K: 2,500 ft of elevation gain
- 50K: 5,000 ft of elevation gain
The 50K has a 10 hour time limit. Crockford-Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area is not a Georgia State Park; runners must purchase a short term Combo Hunting/Fishing day-use license for the day of the race for a $5 fee. Registration opens September 30, 2026. To be guaranteed a race shirt, registration must be completed by February 27, 2027.
