The Cove : Chickamauga, GA
The Cove is a trail running event held at Mountain Cove Farms in McLemore Cove near Chickamauga, Georgia. The location sits between Lookout Mountain and Pigeon Mountain and represents a transition between the Cumberland Plateau and the Ridge and Valley province of the Appalachian Mountains. The courses use local features such as Pigeon Mountain, Rocktown, Whiskey Hollow, the Estelle Mines Trail, Pocket Falls, and the High Point Overlook. Organizers state participants will be kept clear of the hazards in Ellison's Cave.
Distances and elevation gains:
- 50K: 5,000 ft elevation gain
- 30K: 2,500 ft elevation gain
- 10K: 650 ft elevation gain
The 50K course includes sections by Rocktown, the Estelle Mines Trail with old railroad tunnels, Pocket Falls, and the High Point Overlook. A 10-hour time limit applies to the 50K.
Runners using Crockford-Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area must purchase a day-use Combo Hunting/Fishing short term license for the race day at a cost of $5.
