The Cougar Dash 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run
The Cougar Dash is a community running event organized by the Coventry Elementary School PTA in Yorktown, Virginia. The event takes place at Coventry Elementary School, 200 Owen Davis Boulevard, Yorktown, VA 23693. It is presented as a non-profit event and 100% of proceeds benefit Coventry Elementary School PTA. The course is a flat asphalt route that runs through the Coventry and The Greenlands neighborhoods. A packet pickup and race expo is held at the school gym the day before the race and includes bounce houses and food trucks.

The event offers a 5K with adult and youth categories (youth open to ages 3-18) and a separate 1-Mile Fun Run. Posted entry fees are $35 for the 5K adult, $25 for the 5K youth (3-18), and $20 for the 1-Mile Fun Run. No same-day race registrations are allowed; on-site registration closes at the race expo. Every runner receives a finishing medal. Adult overall male and female 1st through 3rd places receive engraved medals. Top three girls and boys in the listed age groups receive engraved trophies: Teen (13-17), 11-12, 9-10, 7-8, and 6 and under. Volunteers are used to support the event.
