The Cougar Dash 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run
The Cougar Dash is a community running event on Saturday, April 25, 2026. It takes place at Coventry Elementary School in Yorktown, Virginia. The event includes three separate races:
- The Cougar Dash 5K Adult
- The Cougar Dash 5K Youth (ages 3-18)
- The Cougar Dash 1-Mile Fun Run
The course is described as flat and on asphalt, passing through the Coventry and The Greenlands neighborhoods. The 1-mile fun run starts first, followed by the 5K. All participants receive a finisher's medal. The event is organized by the Coventry Elementary PTA, and all proceeds support student programs. The event is non-profit.
Event Details
Packet pickup is scheduled for the day before the race, Friday, April 24, from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM, at the Coventry Elementary School gym. Registration closes on April 24, and same-day registration is not available. The event seeks volunteers.
Awards
For the 5K race, awards are given in several categories. The top three overall adult females and males receive engraved medals. The top three girls and boys in specific youth age groups (Teen/13-17, 11-12, 9-10, 7-8, 6 and under) receive engraved trophies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
