The ColyTEN
The ColyTEN is a scenic multi terrain 10 mile race that starts and finishes in Colyton, with Race HQ at the Peace Memorial Playing Fields. The route is about 80% off road and follows sections beside the river Coly, then uses footpaths, woodland trails and short road links.
The course leaves the river footpath, includes a short road section to Chantry Bridge, crosses the river and begins a steep ascent through Ox Woods. After a short descent down Jobbles Lane the route enters Morganhayes woodland, an undulating section with a couple of steep climbs and a brief road stretch. The final three miles are largely downhill or flat, with about one mile on road, before a lap of the playing field to the finish where finishers receive a medal and a post race drink and flapjack.
Practical details include registration, number collection and bag drop at Race HQ, on site toilet facilities, two cup less water stations at about 2.5 and 7.5 miles and a 3 hour course cut off. No headphones are allowed during the race and dogs are not permitted at Race HQ. Limited parking is available on site, in Colyton town centre and in a field opposite Shiphay Farm, the latter about a 10 minute walk from Race HQ. Minimum age is 17. Entry fees listed are £20 affiliated and £22 unaffiliated. The event is organised by Axe Valley Runners in association with Colyton Football Club and a donation will be made to Devon Air Ambulance.
